Leading National Supplier of Greek Fillo Introduces New Baklava for Foodservice Market
Athens Foods will distribute new, Athens-branded Baklava nationwide
CLEVELAND – May 14, 2007 – Athens Foods, the top-selling producer of fillo products nationwide, today announced it will market its baklava product in a new configuration and portion size to the foodservice industry. The company has a long history of manufacturing the popular Greek pastry for branded and private-label distribution.
Athens baklava employs a traditional Greek recipe, which is responsible for its recognizable taste. The new product will be packaged in cartons of 72 pieces in a traditional triangle shape. Each box will contain two trays of 36 pieces to simplify storage and service. Athens baklava will be distributed nationally through foodservice distributors. Athens baklava is a sweet, traditional Mediterranean pastry made with layers of fillo dough, chopped walnuts, sugar, honey and spices. While variations of the basic ingredients are often used to make baklava, the general recipe dates back several centuries.
