Description
Craving the traditional flavors and spices of chicken samosas but don’t have time to make the dough? Try this deconstructed version with all the wonderful spiced chicken enhanced by a crispy phyllo dough shell.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1 tablespoon green chili pepper, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 8 ounces ground chicken
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/4 teaspoon coriander, ground
- 1/8 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 packages (15 count, each) Athens® Phyllo Shells
- 2 tablespoons cilantro, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons green onion, sliced (for garnish)
Directions
Heat oil in large sauté pan. Add fennel seeds, cook over medium heat 2-3 minutes or until they become aromatic. Add chili pepper and onion, continue cooking 2-3 more minutes or until onion becomes translucent. Stir in garlic, ginger, chicken and continue cooking, stirring periodically 8-10 minutes or until the the chicken is cooked through. Reduce heat to medium low and mix in salt, cumin, garam masala, coriander, turmeric and lemon juice. Cook 2 more minutes and remove from heat.
Spoon filling into phyllo shells.
Sprinkle with cilantro and green onion. Serve immediately.
