Ground beef, bacon and cheddar break out of the bun and rendezvous in a Mini Phyllo Shell in these easy appetizers.
- 1/2 cup bacon, chopped
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 packages (15 count, each) Athens Mini Phyllo Shells, crisped according to package directions
- 5 tablespoons ketchup
- 5 tablespoons pickle relish
- Iceberg lettuce, shredded, for garnish†
In a medium sauté pan over medium heat, add bacon and cook, about 10 minutes. Add onions to the bacon and cook for 5 minutes. Add beef and cook until thoroughly cooked through, about 10 minutes. In a strainer, drain meat mixture. In a medium mixing bowl, combine warm meat mixture and cheddar cheese. In the bottom of each Phyllo shell, put ½ teaspoon of ketchup. Spoon 1 heaping teaspoon of filling into each shell. Top with ½ teaspoon of relish and lettuce to garnish. Serve warm.
