Description
Mushrooms and smoked mozzarella cheese are the stars of this elegant and meat-free Phyllo Shell appetizer.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons canola oil
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 1/2 cups mushrooms, small diced
- 2 tablespoons onions, small diced
- 1 teaspoon capers
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon dried leaf thyme
- 2 tablespoons red wine
- Dash of salt and pepper
- 1 package (15 count) Athens® Phyllo Shells
- 3 tablespoon shredded smoked mozzarella
Directions
In a small skillet heat oil, add garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add mushrooms, onions, capers, Worcestershire, and thyme. Saute for 3-5 minutes. Add red wine and simmer until liquid evaporates. Season with salt and pepper.
Spoon filling into each phyllo shell. Top with 1/2 teaspoon of mozzarella cheese. Bake in preheated 350ºF oven for 5 -8 minutes or until cheese starts melting. Serve warm
