After Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all the holiday parties in between, we need a break from the family feasts. In the wake of a long winter’s hibernation, Easter is the perfect time to reunite. With these prep-ahead and foolproof Easter recipes, you can host a stress free gathering that’s sure to impress even the pickiest guests.
Put a flavorful spin on classic deviled eggs. These Cajun egg salad and shrimp shells are easy to make and look great arranged on a serving platter with raw vegetables, a tasty store bought dip and goat cheese stuffed phyllo cups. As an added bonus, they’ll keep guests happily munching away while you prep the rest of your menu.
Don’t feel rushed to put food on the table. Do plan wisely to minimize last minute cooking. Once rubbed with a bourbon, brown sugar and spicy mustard mix, this glazed ham can be popped in the oven and all but forgotten about until your timer dings. Add a delicious phyllo topped leek and gruyere pie and a roasted green vegetable (asparagus and French green beans are two of our faves) to round out the spread.
For a festive, kid-friendly spin on Easter sweets, make these precious peanut butter bunnies. If you have little ones at the table, you can even let them take charge of assembly — just mix up the butterscotch and PB mixture ahead of time. Need something more grown-up? Sophisticated palates will appreciate the subtle yogurt tang and lemon tartness of these blackberry lemon trifles.
When family and friends ask “What can I bring?,” tell them! Whether you could use an extra side, a crusty loaf of bread, wine, or a second dessert, let your guests know where you could use a little help. Also, it’s A-OK if someone else jumps up to clear the table. After all, you cooked!
